Due to globalisation, the energy market in Latvia is subject to fluctuations caused by events in other countries of the world, thus becoming unpredictable, which has a direct impact on the company’s economic activity. Therefore KRONUS SIA has carried out an assessment of the mitigation of the above-mentioned impact and measures to be taken. In the frame of the project, investments will be made in the renewable energy system, thus significantly reducing dependency from the energy market.

 

It is planned to install a solar panel system for self-consumption with a total inverter capacity of 450 kW and a total capacity of 488 kW. The amount of energy produced by the solar panels will not exceed the company’s annual electricity consumption. In the first 12 months, the installed solar panels are expected to generate 407 MWh of electricity, resulting in a reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions in the amount of 44.36 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The aim of the project is to improve the automation and digitalisation of the company’s existing production processes. The project includes five digital strategy development events, linked to the automation of production facilities and the increase of the level of digitisation.

 

The project will significantly improve the company’s production infrastructure. The digital transformation of the production process will be carried out in the areas of pallet production, hinge production, rivet production, pallet collars packing and board assemblage areas. The investments are expected to result in productivity increase, production cost reductions for certain elements and a reduction in the manual labour volume.

In accordance with agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency on the project “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise”, the company continues to successfully implement the project. Experimental equipment tests continue within the project.

Within the project, the company has put the experimental equipment “Line for sorting planks” into operation and begins the testing of experimental technology in the real production environment.

In accordance with agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency on the project “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise”, the company continues to successfully implement the project. Within the project, the company is preparing to install experimental equipment “Line for sorting planks”.

During the project, the company continues research and development for the experimental equipment “Line for sorting planks”.

In 2018, with the support of the structural funds of the European Union, KRONUS completed a project to create a new production site for manufacturing C-class pallet collars and metal hinges as well as to improve the quality of the products manufactured. The total amount of co-financing by Euro Funds was 827,416.04 euros.

On 23 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 on the implementation of the “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise” project. An experimental line for sorting planks will be created through the collaboration of the SIA KRONUS engineers with SIA MARKUSS & C O specialists, and this equipment will become unique, without any analogues in the world. At the moment, this is the only equipment not installed within this project.

On 23 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 on the implementation of the “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise” project. Within the project, two of the three units of innovative equipment as well as most of the units of standard equipment were acquired and installed. The testing of innovative equipment under real production conditions has begun.

On 23 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 on the implementation of the “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise” project. SIA KRONUS specialists in collaboration with specialists of the Italian Omera S.R.L. company are working on the introduction of an experimental hinge production line into industrial production. This equipment has no analogues in the world.

On 23 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 on the implementation of the “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise” project. Within the framework of the project, seven contracts were concluded with equipment suppliers. In general, it is planned to implement eight contracts for the supply of equipment.

On 20 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 3.1.1.5/16/A/076 on the implementation of the “Construction of new manufacturing facilities” project. Within the framework of the project, the company is installing new equipment to start manufacturing innovative pallet collars.

On 23 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 on the implementation of the “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise” project. Within the framework of the project, on 15 August 2017, the PAL-82 pallet production line was put into operation in the production workshop of the enterprise.

On 20 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 3.1.1.5/16/A/076 on the implementation of the “Construction of new manufacturing facilities” project. Within the framework of the project, new production facilities at the following addresses: Jaundauguļu iela 4, Jaundauguļu iela 2, and Dauguļu iela 1, in Ulbroka, Stopiņi Municipality, were commissioned. The construction of the buildings was carried out by SIA Bukoteks and SIA Piche.

On 23 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 1.2.1.4/16/A/032 on the implementation of the “Introduction of new products at the SIA KRONUS enterprise” project. The project is being implemented with co-funding of the European Regional Development Fund.
The company completed the purchase procedure, having acquired the following equipment:

• Experimental hinge production line
• Nail production equipment
• Experimental robot for packaging hinges (2 pcs.)
• Experimental plank sorting line
• Pallet collar production line
• Mobile roller manipulator to ensure the carrying out of production processes
• Manipulator with 3 t loading capacity and a telescopic stabiliser
• Manipulator with 3 t loading capacity (4 pcs)

On 20 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 3.1.1.5/16/A/076 on the implementation of the “Construction of new manufacturing facilities” project. Within the framework of the project, the construction of the new production facilities at the following addresses: Jaundauguļu iela 4, Jaundauguļu iela 2, and Dauguļu iela 1, in Ulbroka, Stopiņi Municipality, started. Construction works are carried out by SIA “Bukoteks” and SIA “Piche”.

On 20 March 2017, KRONUS and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (V/a “Centrālā finanšu un līguma aģentūra”) concluded agreement No. 3.1.1.5/16/A/076 on the implementation of the “Construction of new manufacturing facilities” project. The project is being implemented with co-funding of the European Regional Development Fund.

SIA KRONUS and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia signed agreement No. SKV-L-2016/949 on obtaining financial support within the framework of the “Stimulating International Competitiveness” project, implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund.

The agreement on KRONUS’ participation in the international conference “The Ninth China Pallet International Conference & Annual Meeting of Global Pallet Entrepreneurs” was signed

On 8 April 2015, the funding recipient, SIA KRONUS, and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia signed agreement No. L-ĀTA-15-2696 on the participation of SIA KRONUS in the international conference “The Ninth China Pallet International Conference & Annual Meeting of Global Pallet Entrepreneurs” with financial support of the European Regional Development Fund.

On January 31, 2015, SIA KRONUS submitted the final report for project no. Implementation of KPFI-15.3/94 “Increasing energy efficiency in SIA KRONUS production complex on Dauguļu street 17 and 19, Ulbroka, according to high energy efficiency standards and using environmentally friendly construction materials”.

The objectives of the project have been fully achieved.

On 5 September 2014, SIA KRONUS and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia signed agreement No. L-APV-14-0190 on the implementation of the “High Value Added Product Development at SIA KRONUS” project. The project is being implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund. Within the framework of the project, robotic equipment for hitting nails into pallets was delivered to the enterprise, installed and put into operation. The equipment supplier was SIA ”Forma Machinery”.

On 5 September 2014, SIA KRONUS and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia signed agreement No. L-APV-14-0190 on the implementation of the “High Value Added Product Development at SIA KRONUS” project. The project is being implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund. Within the framework of the project, a line for manufacturing pallet collars was delivered to the enterprise, installed and commissioned. The equipment supplier was SIA ”Forma Machinery”.

On 5 September 2014, SIA KRONUS and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia signed agreement No. L-APV-14-0190 on the implementation of the “High Value-Added Product Development at SIA KRONUS” project. The project is being implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund. Within the framework of the project, a hydraulic press for manufacturing briquettes was delivered to the enterprise, installed and commissioned. The equipment supplier is SIA ”RMP”.

An agreement on the implementation of the “High Added Value Product Development at SIA KRONUS” project was concluded.

On 5 September 2014, SIA KRONUS and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia signed agreement No. L-APV-14-0190 on the implementation of the “High Value Added Product Development at SIA KRONUS” project. The project is being implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund. Within the framework of the project, the company installed a manipulator with 5 t loading capacity as well as two manipulators with 3 t loading capacity.

The contract for the supply of equipment and IT technologies was signed

On 5 September 2014, SIA KRONUS and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia signed agreement No. L-APV-14-0190 on the implementation of the “High Value Added Product Development at SIA KRONUS” project. The project is being implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund. As part of the project, the agreements on the supply and installation of equipment and IT technologies as well as on carrying out employee training were signed:

• Manipulator with 5 t loading capacity;
• Manipulator with 3 t loading capacity (2 pcs.);
• Pallet production line;
• Hydraulic press for manufacturing briquettes.

On 30 June 2014, SIA KRONUS, SIA ”Vides investīciju fonds” and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia signed agreement No. KPFI-15.3/94 on the implementation of the “Energy efficiency at the SIA KRONUS manufacturing complex, located in Ulbroka, Dauguļu iela, 17 and 19, in accordance with the high standards of energy efficiency and using environmentally friendly materials” project. The goal of the project is to reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. It is planned to reduce CO2 emissions by 319.350 t per year as a result of project implementation. The project costs will amount to 1 353 927.42 euros. 54.974677 % of the project, that is, 744 317.22 euros, are financed by KPFI (the Climate Change Financial Instrument).
